My husband and I merely go in for a cleaning. They told me I have to label a special appointment with a hygienist if I want my teeth cleaned and they only polished my husband's teeth; no cleaning. Does that count as one of his 2 covered every twelve months cleanings?!

Most insurance companies will only cover one set of bitewings per year and one set of panoramic every three years. It sounds like you get periapical xrays. They are closeup xrays, and you can see 2-3 teeth per xray. There usually isn't a limit on these, but the dentist has to support to the insurance company why they were taken in writ for insurance to pay (ie, they suspect you need a root conduit, etc). If you want to seek a second opinion, you own two options. (1) You can choose to take a foreign set at the new dentist (might be best esp if you think the xrays taken weren't the best standard but can be expensive since you may have to pay for this out of pocket since insurance have already paid out once) or (2) ask the dentist's office to sort copies. They will charge you a fee, though.
You might want to call your insurance a moment ago to make sure what their coverage is on xrays and/or the cleanings.
It sounds as if you need to jump to someone else. Even though you paid for the x-rays, they are not yours. they are the property of the office. For a small duty they should make a copy of them. You can then bring the copy to a bright dental office. Source(s): I'm a dentist.
