Dental Assistant Volunteer Work?

Right now I've been looking for a dental assisting duty for about 6 months, (graduated in June) and haven't found anything. Is it adjectives for people to drop in dental office and offer to volunteer to gain experience and is it accepted by the dentist/office? And how long should I volunteer if they ask me to? I don't want to provide up all my time for free. The whole point is to find my foot in the door and hopefully get hired on. Any thoughts? and whats the best channel to ask them?
Answers:
yeah you should really ask around!!
i went to the denist a few days ago and there be a student there (a newbee) oh my gosh just some counsel, don't be nervous and be gentle!
the girl so so fretful it took and hour when it could've been done in 10 mins (orthadonist, i go to get my braces tightened)
plus she made me bleed!
so just relax you know what you're doing.
suitable luck
It doesn't hurt to ask. I think a smaller office may be more predisposed to accommodate you if you have no experience. A larger office may want you to know something just about dental assisting before letting you work. As far as how long to volunteer, I would say until you hold an idea that you want to really do assisting. Honestly, though, you may want to go to a institution to learn assisting. It will give you a leg up.
